2006 Casco Classic Charities

PEAK Internet, our parent cooperatives and affiliate companies have chosen to feed the hungry and help families be close to loved ones during a hospital stay by supporting two great charities: Linn Benton Food Share and the Mario Pastega House at Good Samaritan Hospital. With your wonderful patronage of the Casco Classic, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of so many in our communities.

Linn Benton Food Share
The Linn Benton Food Share is our area's chapter of the Oregon Food Bank. They distribute food to over 73 member food pantries, soup kitchens and self-help groups. Funding for the organization is gathered from the Oregon Food Bank, City of Corvallis, Linn County, Benton County and individual contributors. By participating in or sponsoring the Casco Classic your dollars will be utilized to purchase food for the Linn Benton Food Share to help others right here in our community. One of every six families in Linn and Benton counties depend on food from an emergency food pantry at least once each year. Almost half of the food distributed assists working families and over 44% of the food goes to children under the age of 17.

Mario Pastega House
The Mario Pastega House is located on the campus of the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. The house is specifically designed to give the families of critically ill patients a place to stay while their loved ones are being treated. This allows families to remain close by in case they need to be at the bedside quickly. It is considered a “home away from home” to those who are already experiencing significant distress in their lives. The value of Mario Pastega House is best described by the comments of one of the recent guests, “The kindness and friendship that each of you extended will be a special memory for me for the rest of my life.”
