2007 Charities

Each year the Casco Classic turns all proceeds over to local charities. This year we hope to bring more of the surrounding communities together to help our community. We all have an important part to play.

Mario Pastega House

Mari Pastega House

The Mario Pastega House is located on the campus of the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. The house is specifically designed to give the families of critically ill patients a place to stay while their loved ones are being treated. This allows families to remain close by in case they need to be at the bedside quickly. It is considered a “home away from home” to those who are already experiencing significant distress in their lives. The value of Mario Pastega House is best described by the comments of one of the recent guests, “The kindness and friendship that each of you extended will be a special memory for me for the rest of my life.”

Lincoln County Food Share fights hunger

Lincoln County Food Share is a community based nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger. It was founded in 1981 and serves six independent food pantries, four meal sites and six supplemental nutrition programs. The Summer Outreach Lunch Program (SOL) allows children to receive lunches Monday through Friday during the summer.

They're part of a statewide network of hunger-relief agencies.

Their Mission:
To empower individuals and promote community food security.

Linn-Benton Food Share

Linn Benton Food Share is the regional food bank for Linn and Benton Counties. Since 1981, Food Share has been committed to fulfilling our goal that “Everybody Eats.” Through our network of 71 agencies we attempt to reach every person who cannot find enough resources to adequately feed themselves or their family.

Linn Benton Food Share prevents hunger by soliciting, transporting, storing and distributing over 5 million pounds of food each year to our 70 member agencies -- emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, child and senior care centers, shelter homes, and gleaning groups.

By providing this centralized food distribution service, Food Share allows these agencies to strengthen their services and programs with the money they would otherwise be spending on food. The estimated value of the food we distribute is $6,950,000.
